Anguish
Anguish hobbles in a lonely field
blades of grass slice
exposed tendons with each step
his teeth are mangled
din hair sopping with oil
body limp, void of all hope
eyes a mosaic of purples
the smell of tarnished pennies linger
former companions despair and desolation
poison his memory
packed with pain
haunted by abandonment
infectious, Anguish reaches out
to joy and rapture
who recoil, knowing the mass
that have not survived his grasp
Anguish hobbles in a lonely field
